On this, January 15th, 2024, what would have been the 95th birthday of the great freedom fighter, Martin Luther King Jr., I find myself reflecting on one of the driving forces behind Chalice Premium — our unwavering commitment to our core values equality, equality, inclusivity and representation. It’s not just a corporate mantra; it’s a deeply personal value that has woven its way into the very DNA of our brand.
As the founder, this journey began with a simple yet profound realization — the extraordinary things that happen when diverse minds and hearts come together. Growing up, I witnessed the magic that unfolds when individuals from different walks of life collaborate, each bringing their unique stories and perspectives to the mix. It left an indelible mark on my soul, and that essence became the heartbeat of Chalice Premium. We seek to uplift those who they try to silence and push to back or even worse bury.
I have seen what can happen when seemingly opposite people come together over food and drink. Revolutions form. Chasms close. Friendships Bloom. People fall in love. Fences mend. People become just people and not the sum of their differences,
We choose to be an active part of the revolution that holds people accountable for hatred and separatism. Most brands will remain neutral; while I understand that stance; we choose to SHOW UP, SHOW OUT, OUT LOUD, AND ON PURPOSE. Because that is our purpose, to be the voice for those who have lost their voice or have yet to find it.
Equality and inclusivity, for us, is more than a workplace checkbox or a marketing tagline; it’s a commitment to fostering a community that mirrors the hues of the world around us. It’s about recognizing that diversity isn’t a hurdle to overcome but a wellspring of innovation and growth waiting to be tapped.
My personal journey has intricately shaped this commitment to inclusivity. The memories of unity and collaboration from my past have become the guiding stars of our mission. I carry with me the belief that our differences are not challenges to navigate but treasures to cherish.
Chalice Premium’s commitment to inclusivity extends far beyond our ethos.. It reaches into every aspect of our interactions — from our partnerships and suppliers to the cherished individuals who make up our customer base. We want to be more than just a business; we want to be a space where everyone feels not only welcome but genuinely valued, regardless of who they are or where they come from.
This journey towards inclusivity is not a destination but a continuous exploration. We actively seek feedback, engage in open conversations, and remain vigilant in our commitment to growth. Inclusivity, for us, is not a static goal; it’s a dynamic dance of learning and evolving.
As I pen down these thoughts, I feel an overwhelming sense of pride in leading a company that places equality and inclusivity at its very core. It’s not just a business strategy; it’s a reflection of our deep belief in the transformative power of diversity. Inclusivity, to us, is the only way forward — a path paved with empathy, understanding, and the celebration of the beautiful differences that make us who we are.
I look forward to a future where inclusivity isn’t just a value but a lived experience ingrained into what they like to call “normal” culture.
So what happens decades after Dr. Martin Luther King’s Dream? We take action. But like Brother Malcom said, “By any means necessary.”
I implore those of you who think you cannot participate in the battle for equality, including ang representation in this world to rethink that idea. What are you best at? What is your superpower? We all have gifts. Brainstorm ways your gift can help your be contributor to the cause,
C’mon let’s talk about ir over a cocktail. I’m sure we can cause cosmic shit if we come together.
With gratitude,
Zakiyyah Walker
